"Chiado Palace Collection nr. I - The Tragedies"

The Facts & the Artistic History*

The Butler serves an effervescent Tea perhaps deliberately culminating in Tragedy. On 25 November, in the possession of D. Francisco de Paula of Portugal and Castro, 8th Count of Vimioso and 2nd Marquis of Valença, the Palace is reduced to rubble by violent fire. Survivors, in Silver, the same service of Tea, suffer terrible tremors, in 1755 with the earthquake of 1 of November that destroys what was left of the Building.

Artistic History*
